I was commissioned to do some numerals for a Baltimore themed t-shirt a few weeks ago. I’m rather happy with how it came out. You can purchase it here.

Austin, Austin, Austin. I cannot say enough about my recent adventure down to SXSW with my band over the past week and a half. I was lucky enough to tour 5 days through VA, GA, FL, LA and finally Houston before making my way to the heart of it, then play 4 shows over the 4 days we were there. While hanging out I got to meet up with the awesome Rand Renfrow and venture to Flatstock, which I have been looking forward to for years now and boy was it awesome (hence the swag in the picture). Picked up some prints from Delicious Design League, Young Monster and Two Arms Inc. All favorites of mine. The adventure in a few pictures below.
I’m giving a short talk on Gig Posters today in the MICA Graphic Design department. I’ll be talking a little bit about the history of posters and highlighting some of my favorite design groups. Plus a little bit about my own personal process thrown it at the end. Its only a short half hour talk and free and open to everyone! I have a pretty sweet little presentation so check it out.
TODAY AT 3:30 in Brown 303.
I’ve never officially put up some of my gig poster screen prints for sale online so I figured it was about time to do so. With a tour coming up (not working for 3 weeks) and a hefty parking fine this morning now seemed like as best a time than ever. So, if your interested in picking up a print (only $18) please visit my Etsy link below. Also if your in Baltimore and want one, e-mail me and we can work it out sans the shipping cost.
BITS & PIECES: Emblem, Crest and Container Study
For a few weeks now I’ve been working on my senior project/thesis, the end all be all to my college education. I’ve struggled getting started and restarted the process numerous times. Tonight I did a quick study of various emblems, crests and containers to draw some inspiration from while creating the identity system for the project. Some of these are taken from vintage packaging sources along with other ephemera and some are just common shapes I recalled from memory. More updates soon, i hope.
Music: James Blake - The Wilhelm Scream (Live BBC Session)
This BBC session that James Blake did back in January still gives me chills. I’m a huge fan of simplicity in song writing and the ability to convey emotion and carry a song solely on dynamics and space. That’s one thing that connects design thinking and musical thinking together, the careful consideration of space. Space lets a piece breathe, both musically and visually, and takes a skilled craftsman to really make it work. Also his music video for “Limit To Your Love” is probably one of the most beautiful videos I’ve seen in a long time.

Baltimore Type Adventure
Today I took some time to drive around the city (mainly the Fells Point area) to start some visual typographic research for my senior project I’m working on. A lot of these are signs I have been admiring for a while while some are just interesting applications of lettering both good and bad. Click below to see more.
One of my new year resolutions was to actually start blogging. So, in my attempt to do that I’ve decided to start posting some various objects that I’ve been collecting and find interesting along with more personal work. Hope everyone enjoys it, here’s my first installment.
Show & Tell: Wildwood, NJ
I found these beautiful decals in all their off registered and halftone glory in Wildwood, NJ a few years back. When I’m in a touristy spot I tend to enjoy walking into the crappy horribly touristy stores just to peek around and see what I can find. In this case, on the bottom shelf at the back of a store on the board walk I found a dusty box that read “Decals” on it. I pulled it out and found these gems that essentially got lost within the clutter of the shelves for years.
Music: Secret Mountains - Rejoice
Yes this is a video for my band that we recently shot on our two week tour that covered Baltimore - New Orleans - NYC and everywhere in between. The concept was to shoot the same song at 14 different shows, in 14 different states and get 14 different angles and environments. Shot by Ace Kieffer and Edited by John Andrews.
Secret Mountains now has a website too so check it out!

So last week i spent my spring break in Hale County, Alabama in a small town called Greensboro. I can honestly say it is one of the most motivational experiences I’ve ever had. I learned and talked a lot of the social side of design that I’ve been struggling to come to form my opinion on. I met a ton of new amazing people and got to know a bunch of already great people a lot better. All i can say is post graduation I am doing a 3 week Project M.
Some of my photos from the trip are here.
Here is a great video PieLab put together to explain what they are doing.
Also check out the two projects we worked on/in:
